The study of Tanach is, in many ways, the study of decision-making. Throughout the Bible we are afforded windows into critical moments where characters must make decisions that will affect the nature of their communal infrastructure. By studying these moments, we can understand how and why these biblical characters make their decisions, and how they can inform decisions made within our own Jewish communities. Together we will look at different moments in the Bible, where power is transferred from one leader to the other, and through a close reading of the text, discuss the difficulties and opportunities that can arise.
