In this session we'll explore some disturbing sources about the binding of Isaac, talk about the different resonances that the story has had for the Jewish people at different times in its history, but, more importantly, we'll start thinking about what these sources mean for the study of Jewish philosophy in general. Is there such a thing as a pure Jewish philosophy purged of pagan and Christian and Muslim influence; would that even be desirable?
